The User's Voice

As integration of the prototypes in all four scenarios is drawing near, we at Edna Pasher Ph.D. & Associates are very excited to be updating and preparing for the upcoming end-user tests. Past end-user tests were conducted in each scenario. However, because the prototypes were either not fully usable or portable at those times, we were given the opportunity to interview end-users (doctors, patients, aircraft maintenance workers, firefighters, car manufacturers) on their expectations of wearables before using them.

The end-user’s responses were very optimistic.

Some of the expected impacts of wearables included:
•    Preventing mistakes
•    Making the job easier by creating faster and more efficient ways of carrying out tasks
•    Increasing social interactions between employees by allowing them to communicate with one another while working
•    Improving information sharing and data retrieval

We are now preparing to test if these expectations are fulfilled once the integrated wearables are introduced into the workplace and to see where there is room for improvement.
